Semi Vacation Day 3. May 26, 2013.

Welcome home

We waved goodbye to the waves, plush bedding, and all-you-can-eat breakfast buffet yesterday at Independence Beach feeling refreshed and ready to head back to the city.

I’ll always be grateful for my ability to nap almost anywhere, at any time-even a double decker, Khmer music-blasting bus on a Cambodian road.

When I got back into town, I set off to my boss’s surprise birthday party for a night I could only describe as unforgettable. Some of the shyest staff members found themselves in drag, eliciting cheers from every single person in the room while modern break dancers took the stage and wowed onlookers and even more importantly, the birthday man, the incredible Uncle John. Never have I seen so many beers polished off at a Khmer work event and after a full on dance off between a suspendered colleague, I hit the sheets fully exhausted and prepared for a doozy of a work week.
