I’ve come down with a cold, flu, bug, parasite-whatever.
I decided to go with a Khmer remedy for said cold, flu, bug, parasite-whatever: coining.
Using a bit of Tiger Balm, White Monkey Holding Peach Balm, King Balm, mentholatum balm of some sort and a coin (hence the term coining) or the lid of the salve to rub it in the skin hard enough to enter the blood stream, it’s hoped it’ll cure whatever ailment you’ve got. It started off as an almost nice feeling of a massage into some pretty intense pain as we hit my ribs. This photo was taken about halfway through the process.
Kind of along the lines of leeches and snake oil, in my opinion, but it was worth a shot as I sniffled and coughed my way through the morning as deadline hits.
scary!!! did it really work? It looks like more of work of art than anything. Hope you have recovered fully by then.
I’m pretty sure it didn’t do much-but it was a definite experience! I’m sure I’ll do it again eventually. Placebo effect?
